All the Wild Moves the ‘Hawk Tuah’ Girl Has Made Since Allegedly Selling Her Social Media for Big Bucks
Hailey Welch, better known to the internet as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, became a household name after one infamous viral moment. But her sudden rise to fame has since turned into a rollercoaster of controversies — and now, she’s reportedly cashed in by selling her social media presence for a massive payday.
From Viral Sensation to Internet Mogul (and Back Again)
It all started in June 2024 when a clip from Tim & Dee TV took over social media. In the video, Welch, during a night out, delivered a now-infamous line in response to a question about what drives guys wild in bed:
“You gotta hawk tuah and spit on that thang.”
That one sentence was enough to launch her into internet stardom. Almost overnight, she was selling merchandise, attracting hundreds of thousands of followers, and launching new ventures. But her journey has since taken some sharp turns.
The $325K Account Sale That Divided Fans
The latest buzz? Reports claim that Welch (or someone on her team) sold her popular account, HawkCoinX, which boasted nearly 400,000 followers, for a whopping $325,000. The page has since been rebranded as “Up Only Memes.”
While many cheered her for capitalizing on her fame, others criticized the move as another questionable decision. And this isn’t the first time she’s come under fire.
The Memecoin Disaster That Left Fans Burned
Back in December 2024, Welch introduced her own cryptocurrency called $HAWK. It generated a ton of hype at launch, but it quickly fell apart. Within hours, the coin’s value plummeted by over 90%, according to Bloomberg Law.
The crypto token wasn’t registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and when the fallout began, angry investors claimed they lost thousands — some even said they lost their life savings.
Welch claimed she was cooperating with authorities. Eventually, the SEC launched an investigation, but according to her attorney, it ended without charges or penalties.
“There were no findings made against Hailey, and no monetary sanctions,” her lawyer explained. “She’s free to engage in crypto or securities work in the future.”
From Internet Star to Podcaster
As part of her efforts to shift her image, Welch launched a podcast titled Talk Tuah, leaning into the phrase that made her famous. In a promotional clip, she said it was finally time to speak her mind:
“Everyone has opinions. Now, I’m ready to share mine.”
The podcast was produced in collaboration with Jake Paul’s media platform, Betr, and promised big-name guests like Whitney Cummings, Josh Richards, and even Paul himself.
A High-Stakes Comeback at the Poker Table
After going quiet on social media, Welch reappeared in May 2025 at a Celebrity Poker Tour event in Las Vegas. The tournament, held at the PokerGO Studio in ARIA, featured well-known names such as Adrian Peterson, Jose Canseco, Alexandra Botez, and more.
During the match, Welch hinted at a fresh direction:
“I’m in the middle of rebranding… I’ve had a lot of time to think.”
She didn’t elaborate on what’s next — simply leaving fans with, “You’ll have to wait and see.”
The Comeback Video That Backfired
When Welch finally posted a comeback video after months of silence, she stirred more backlash. The clip featured dramatic skits referencing fake headlines about her — from rumors of her death to a pregnancy hoax.
In one scene, she appeared behind bars as a clip of Joe Rogan asked, “What’s going on with that Hawk Tuah chick? Is she going to jail?”
Some viewers found it funny, but many slammed it as tone deaf, especially given the financial losses tied to her failed crypto project.
