These rivets helped distribute stress across the fabric, preventing seams from pulling apart under pressure. The results were immediate and impressive—pants lasted longer and required fewer repairs. Recognizing the value of this innovation, Davis partnered with Levi Strauss to patent the idea. Together, they introduced riveted denim jeans, which quickly gained a reputation for exceptional durability. This simple improvement transformed workwear and set a new standard for strength in clothing design.

Today, rivets remain a signature feature of jeans, even as styles and trends continue to evolve. Typically made from materials like copper or brass, they are resistant to rust and capable of withstanding repeated washing and daily wear.
