BIZARRE FRAUD CASE IN ITALY: Son Dresses as Dead Mother to Steal Her Pension
Italian authorities have exposed a shocking “Mrs. Doubtfire”-style fraud involving 56-year-old Maurizio Dall’Oglio, who allegedly disguised himself as his dead mother in order to keep collecting her pension for years.
Police say Maurizio never reported the death of his mother, 82-year-old Graziella Dall’Oglio. Instead, he hid her mummified body inside their home wrapped in a sleeping bag in the laundry room while continuing to cash her benefits.
To keep the scheme going, Maurizio reportedly dressed up as Graziella using a wig, makeup, women’s clothing, and earrings when attempting to renew her ID. A government worker became suspicious after noticing “masculine features,” triggering a police investigation.
During the search, officers discovered Graziella’s remains and uncovered years of alleged pension fraud totaling tens of thousands of euros.
Maurizio is now under investigation for:
• Concealing a corpse
• Pension fraud
• Identity/document forgery
• Impersonation
Authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine when Graziella died and whether further crimes were committed.
