Megan Moroney Turns Up the Heat With Bold New Single “Wish I Didn’t”

Megan Moroney is turning up the heat as she rolls out new music from her upcoming album Cloud 9, and her latest release, “Wish I Didn’t,” offers a confident, sharp-tongued glimpse into what fans can expect. The song blends playful flirtation with caution, telling a story many listeners will recognize: falling for someone you know might come with consequences.

Right from the start, Moroney frames her love interest as trouble. She sings about a man with a well-known reputation, weighed down by stories from the women who came before her. Aware of the risks, she admits she’s intrigued—but not naïve. She’s waiting for the moment things could go wrong, and she makes it clear she won’t be blindsided. With a songwriter’s confidence, Moroney warns that if she’s crossed, her words can hit just as hard as any weapon.

The song’s tone balances seriousness with sass, carried by Moroney’s rich vocals and a melody that keeps the warning light flashing beneath the flirtation. Co-written with Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird, “Wish I Didn’t” captures the push and pull between desire and self-protection, as she weighs temptation against the fear of heartbreak.

The chorus drives the message home, with Moroney laying down clear boundaries and issuing a final caution: she might be falling, but she’s not afraid to walk away if things turn sour.

The track arrives alongside a bold music video featuring Moroney and reality-TV star Dylan Efron. Directed by Lauren Dunn, the visual begins like a snapshot of an everyday couple going through their morning routines before slowly revealing that all is not what it seems. Drawing inspiration from the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the video escalates into a dramatic dinner-table showdown as the two characters secretly plot against each other.

Throughout the video, fans will spot subtle nods to Moroney’s pink-themed Cloud 9 era, including her signature pink Jeep, the number nine on her door, and other hidden details sprinkled throughout the scenes.

“Wish I Didn’t” is the third song released from Moroney’s third studio album Cloud 9, set to arrive on February 20. It follows earlier releases “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things,” further building anticipation for the 15-track project. The album is also set to feature collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, adding to the excitement surrounding the release.

To accompany the album rollout, Moroney recently teased the full track list in a stylish video that shows her stepping off a jet and looking skyward as the song titles appear written in the clouds.

Beyond the studio, Moroney is preparing to take Cloud 9 on the road. Beginning in May, she’ll launch THE CLOUD 9 TOUR, a 49-date international headline run that will bring her to major venues across North America, Europe, and the UK.
