Deadly Early-Morning Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Injured in Chicago
A violent mass shooting shattered the early morning calm in Chicago on Sunday, leaving one man dead and three others critically injured, according to police.
The shooting occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. in the city’s River North neighborhood, an area known for its nightlife and busy streets. Chicago Police say the victims — a group of adult men — were standing near a vehicle and preparing to get inside when they were suddenly approached by multiple armed suspects.

Authorities report that four unidentified gunmen walked up to the group, pulled out firearms, and opened fire without warning. The rapid gunfire sent chaos through the street as the suspects unleashed multiple rounds before fleeing the scene.
A 34-year-old man was struck several times and rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Three other men were also shot and sustained severe injuries. A 36-year-old man was hit in the chest, a 43-year-old man was shot in the back, and a 35-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds across his body. All three victims were transported to area hospitals in critical condition, where they continue to fight for their lives.
Police say the suspects quickly escaped after the shooting, getting into a vehicle and driving away before officers could reach the scene. By the time authorities arrived, the shooters were already gone.

Investigators spent hours canvassing the area, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings. Detectives are paying particular attention to a green Porsche found at the scene, which was surrounded by evidence markers as officers processed the area for shell casings and other forensic clues.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. Police have not released descriptions of the gunmen and are urging anyone with information, video footage, or tips related to the shooting to come forward.
The incident has added to growing concerns over gun violence in the city, especially in busy entertainment districts during late-night hours. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine a motive and identify those responsible.
