Amazon Power Strips Recalled Over Fire Risk: What Consumers Need to Know
Power strips sold on Amazon have been recalled after safety officials warned they could pose a serious fire and injury risk in homes across the U.S.

Hefei Juyuan Sporting Development Co. has recalled approximately 11,200 power strips following multiple reports of malfunction. According to the company, at least seven consumers reported that the power strips blew a fuse during use. While no fires or injuries have been confirmed so far, federal safety regulators say the risk is significant enough to warrant immediate action.
In a recall notice issued on December 18, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) explained that the recalled power strips lack proper supplementary overcurrent protection. This means that if too many devices are plugged in or the strip becomes overloaded, it may not shut off power as designed. Without this protection, the strip can overheat, increasing the risk of fire, burns, or smoke inhalation, which the agency warns could lead to serious injury or even death.
Which power strips are affected?
The recall applies specifically to ANNQUAN-branded power strips, including the following models:
-
EX-D112-05
-
EX-D106-25
These products were sold exclusively on Amazon between December 2023 and October 2025, with prices ranging from $15 to $40. Consumers may have purchased them for use in homes, offices, dorm rooms, or entertainment setups—places where multiple electronics are often connected at once.
Why this matters
Power strips are commonly used to charge phones, power computers, run televisions, and connect household appliances. A faulty power strip can quickly turn a routine setup into a dangerous situation, especially if it overheats near flammable materials or while unattended. The CPSC emphasizes that even without visible flames, overheating and electrical failure can produce toxic smoke and cause severe injuries.

What consumers should do now
Anyone who owns one of the recalled ANNQUAN power strips should stop using it immediately. Consumers are advised to unplug the device and contact Hefei Juyuan Sporting Development Co. to receive a full refund.
The company has instructed affected customers to reach out directly to arrange compensation and proper disposal of the product. No replacement units are being offered at this time.

A broader safety reminder
This recall serves as a reminder to regularly check household electronics for recalls and safety notices. Power strips, extension cords, and chargers are often overlooked, yet they play a critical role in everyday electrical safety. Using certified products, avoiding overload, and paying attention to warning signs—such as heat, buzzing, or blown fuses—can help prevent dangerous situations before they escalate.
Consumers are encouraged to monitor official recall announcements and report any product-related incidents to the CPSC to help protect others.
