King Charles Appeared ‘Uncomfortable’ During Trump’s State Visit, Expert Claims
Donald Trump has been in the UK since Tuesday evening for a formal state visit, where he has been hosted by the Royal Family. His schedule included a grand military welcome and a lavish banquet at Buckingham Palace with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Yet, the visit wasn’t without awkward moments. According to a body language specialist, King Charles showed signs of unease after a small but telling breach of royal protocol by Trump.
This marks Trump’s second official trip of this kind. Unlike his 2019 visit—when he met with the late Queen Elizabeth—he was this time welcomed by King Charles. The president and First Lady Melania Trump stayed overnight at Windsor Castle before attending the ceremonial events, which included a Red Arrows flyover and formal troop review.
Back in 2019, Trump was criticized for stepping in front of Queen Elizabeth during the inspection of the Guard. On Wednesday, history seemed to repeat itself. As he and King Charles prepared to review the soldiers, Trump once again strode ahead of the monarch.
Expert: King Charles Looked Tense
Inbaal Honigman, speaking on behalf of OLBG, explained that Charles visibly stiffened as Trump walked forward too soon. The king’s hand gestures suggested he was indicating the president should pause, but Trump carried on.
“Charles follows behind with a half-smile, almost bemused,” Honigman observed. “He adjusts his tie, which can be a classic nervous gesture. He’s torn between correcting Trump and risking embarrassment, or simply going along despite the break in protocol.”
The expert added that Trump seemed unaware of the misstep, acting as though nothing was amiss. “The King’s hands show some tension, and he keeps shifting slightly as if unsure how to handle it. At one stage, Charles steps forward to position himself between Trump and the Guard, but Trump moves again and unintentionally blocks him out.”
Smoothing Over the Moment
Eventually, King Charles found a diplomatic solution. He gently placed a hand on Trump’s back, signaling unity and making the situation appear intentional.
“In doing so, he gives the impression this was all part of the plan,” Honigman explained. “Later, Charles repeats the friendly gesture, patting Trump on the back as they walk. By the time they return to their seats, Charles has resumed the lead position.”
