Influencers Defend Naming Their Daughters “Bambi” Despite Online Criticism
One Name, Two Babies, Endless Opinions
The baby name Bambi has recently become the center of heated discussions online after two well-known influencers chose it for their newborn daughters. While many fans applauded the choice as whimsical and sweet, critics weren’t as kind—some even mocked it as “a stripper name.” But despite the negativity, both mothers insist that Bambi is a name filled with meaning and beauty, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
Molly-Mae Hague’s Special Choice
Back in January 2023, Love Island alum Molly-Mae Hague and her fiancé, professional boxer Tommy Fury, welcomed their first child together—a little girl they named Bambi.
When Molly-Mae revealed the name on Instagram with a glimpse of the nursery, decorated in soft beige tones with plush toys and “Bambi” written in elegant script above the crib, the response was instant and intense. While some fans adored it, others flooded the comments with ridicule. “Why name a baby after a cartoon deer?” asked one user. Another bluntly wrote, “Brilliant stripper name.”
The backlash was strong enough that Molly-Mae decided to disable comments on the post. Later, in a candid YouTube video, she shared her feelings:
“I was brought back down to earth very quickly, seeing how nasty this world can be. It’s unusual and unique… but to me, it’s beautiful.”
Tommy Fury stood by her decision without hesitation:
“There was only ever one name for our little girl, and I love the name anyway.”
Another “Bambi” Born in Australia
Interestingly, Molly-Mae wasn’t the only influencer drawn to the name. Around the same time, Australian content creator Indy Clinton, 25, also welcomed a daughter named Bambi—full name Bambi Valentine.
Clinton said she had been searching for something distinctive and charming. The inspiration came while reading the Bambi storybook to her son, Navy. At first, she considered the name Paloma, but once she laid eyes on her newborn, she knew Bambi was the right fit.
When she learned that Molly-Mae had chosen the same name, Clinton wasn’t upset. Instead, she joked:
“Great minds think alike.”
Both Mothers Stand Firm
Like Molly-Mae, Indy Clinton also faced harsh remarks, including the same “stripper name” insult. She brushed off the negativity with confidence:
“People will criticize anything these days, so at least give them something to talk about.”
Clinton also pointed out that unusual, nature-inspired names are now a common trend. “Bambi fits right in with Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs,” she explained, referencing celebrity baby names.
Love Over Judgment
Despite all the noise online, both mothers remain unshaken. For them, Bambi is more than just a name—it represents love, nostalgia, and the innocence of childhood. Clinton put it best:
“That is her name. Nothing is going to change that.”
And while critics may keep debating, their fans continue to flood their posts with love:
-
“How beautiful she is! And what a gorgeous forever name you have gifted her.”
-
“So cute, love her name!”
At the end of the day, Molly-Mae and Indy Clinton are raising daughters who will grow up knowing that their names were chosen with intention, joy, and heart—even if the internet has other opinions.
