Tenth Teen Expected to Surrender After 16-Year-Old Is Lured to His Death and Filmed Dying

Authorities in South Carolina say another arrest is imminent in the shocking case of a 16-year-old boy who was lured into a deadly ambush and killed in an attack that was disturbingly recorded on video.

So far, nine teenagers have turned themselves in for their alleged roles in the murder of Trey Dean Wright, who was fatally shot in June in Florence County. Police expect a tenth suspect to surrender shortly.

Lured Into a Deadly Trap

Investigators revealed that Wright’s girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, 17, played a central role in setting up the ambush. She reportedly convinced him to meet her on a remote road, where a group of teens—including Devan Scott Raper, 19—were lying in wait.

Raper, who had previously threatened Wright during a dispute over a girl, confronted him again that night. Witnesses say the argument escalated, and at least one teen began filming as Raper allegedly opened fire, striking Wright multiple times.

Deputies responded the following day to find Wright lying on the roadway with fatal gunshot wounds. Raper was arrested on June 25 and charged with murder.

A Growing List of Defendants

In the weeks that followed, eight more teens were arrested, accused of helping plan or support the deadly scheme. Officials say the group knew Raper was armed when they alerted him to Wright’s location.

Among those arrested:

  • Gianna Kistenmacher, 17, charged with accessory before the fact.

  • Hunter Kendall, 18

  • Corrine Belviso, 18

  • Sydney Kearns, 17

Their precise roles remain under investigation.

Florence County Sheriff’s Office Major Michael Nunn said the charges were brought in consultation with prosecutors.

“The hand of one being the hand of all is part of South Carolina law,” Nunn explained, “which means each individual who participated in the setup can be held responsible.”

He added that the teens were “complicit in bringing the armed codefendant, Raper, to the scene and knowing a confrontation would occur.”

A Community in Mourning

As the case develops, the Florence County community continues to grieve the devastating loss of Trey Dean Wright. Friends and family have remembered him as a bright, loving young man whose life was taken far too soon.

May he rest in peace.
