He Has Over 240 Tattoos and Was Called a “Bad Dad”—But Wait Until You See Who He Really Is

They called him a monster. Said he was a terrible father just because of how he looked. But once people heard the full story—and saw what he looked like before the ink—everything changed.

Richard Huff, 51, is a father of five, a devoted husband, and a self-described tattoo enthusiast. With more than 240 tattoos covering 85% of his body, he’s used to turning heads. But what really stings, he says, is the judgment—especially from strangers who see his inked face and assume the worst.

From the outside, many were quick to label him. Some even said his appearance made him an unfit parent. But Richard and his wife Marita are proving just how wrong those assumptions can be.

“It all started with my legs,” Richard shared. “And then it just became addictive. I kept going. I don’t know if it was the pain or the beauty of the art, but I was hooked.” Now, with plans to fully cover himself in tattoos within four years, he’s embraced the lifestyle—and the story behind each design.

Some of those tattoos carry deep meaning, including his children’s names and even a print of his daughter’s lips.

But despite his love for ink, life hasn’t been without challenges. “Kids at school sometimes say I look scary,” Richard admitted. But his daughter doesn’t see it that way. “I tell them, ‘No, my dad’s not scary. He’s just cool with tattoos.’”

Even Marita, now his proud and loving wife, admitted she initially judged Richard on his looks. “At first, I was a little scared of him,” she said honestly. “But once I got to know him, I realized he’s got one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen.”

Together for six years, Richard and Marita are raising five children—three of whom are hers from previous relationships. And Richard has fully embraced the role of stepfather, never missing school events or PTA meetings.

“He’s more of a father than I ever hoped for my kids,” Marita often says in videos and posts about their life. “He loves me in a way no one else ever did.”

Still, not everyone is supportive. Online trolls often leave harsh comments. One person wrote, “I don’t mind tattoos, but why the face? It’s just too much.”

But others rally to his defense. “He’s a good dad, he’s happy, the kids are loved. That’s all that should matter,” one supporter commented.

Richard agrees. “If someone is making harsh judgments about me based on how I look, that says more about them than me,” he said. “We’re happy. Our kids are happy. That’s what matters.”

Despite the backlash, he remains confident in who he is and the life he’s built. “My tattoos don’t make me a bad father. They teach my kids that people are more than appearances.”

Richard Huff’s story is a powerful reminder that love, character, and commitment matter far more than how someone looks. If you believe that too, share this story—and help spread the message that judging a parent by their appearance alone is never fair.
