Paris Hilton Defends Son After Online Photo Criticism: “He’s My Angel, My World”

Note: This story was originally reported in October 2023 and is being reshared due to continued public interest.

Paris Hilton is speaking out after a seemingly sweet moment with her infant son took a turn on social media. The 42-year-old heiress and media personality shared a series of photos capturing her baby boy, Phoenix Barron, during his first trip to New York City—but the response wasn’t what she expected.

Instead of warm congratulations or shared joy, some users zeroed in on Phoenix’s appearance, leaving insensitive comments that left Hilton deeply hurt. In a powerful Instagram message, she labeled the behavior “unacceptable” and condemned the online trolling directed at her 8-month-old.

“My angel is perfectly healthy,” Hilton reassured her followers after a TikTok video highlighted the cruel remarks. “He just has a large brain.”

Hilton, who welcomed Phoenix with husband Carter Reum via surrogate in January, responded candidly in an Instagram Story, addressing the emotional toll that online criticism has taken on her as a first-time mom.

“I know being in the spotlight comes with scrutiny,” she wrote. “But going after someone’s child? That crosses a line.”

The post came with heartfelt vulnerability, as Hilton described the internal conflict she feels about sharing her son online.

“When I don’t post him, people question my parenting. When I do, some feel they have the right to say the most horrible things. It’s exhausting,” she said.

Despite the negativity, Hilton proudly stood by her son, calling him a “blessing” and “adorable” child who fills her days with joy. She added that motherhood has always been a dream for her—one that has now come true.

“I’ve waited my whole life to become a mom. And Phoenix is everything I ever hoped for.”

Hilton also emphasized the importance of cultivating a culture of kindness—especially when it comes to innocent children.

“This kind of hate breaks my heart,” she admitted. “We need more compassion in the world—especially for those who can’t defend themselves.”

Since Phoenix’s arrival, Hilton has leaned on her tight-knit family for support. Her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton, along with her sister Nicky, have all played key roles in helping her navigate motherhood.

“They’re absolutely obsessed with him,” Hilton told PEOPLE magazine. “I’m grateful for a family that lifts us up.”

As she continues to share glimpses of her new life, Hilton remains committed to shielding her son from harsh public scrutiny while nurturing a home grounded in love and acceptance.
